A simpler path from requirements to a home.
FindMyFlat turns everyday descriptions of housing needs into searchable criteria, helping people discover flats and flatmates from listings brought together in one place.
What is our technology?
Our stack combines Cloudflare for hosting and server-side infrastructure, Astro and TypeScript for the website, PocketBase for application data and authentication, and Algolia for search. Web collection brings in posts from supported housing communities, while text processing turns listing descriptions and user requirements into structured search filters.
What problem are we solving?
People describe their ideal flat in everyday language: their budget, preferred area, furnishing needs, and who they want to live with. Housing information is scattered across community posts and property portals, making it hard to compare those requirements with available options.
FindMyFlat helps turn these informal descriptions into searchable criteria, so users can find relevant leads without repeatedly browsing groups and rewriting the same filters.
What traction do we have?
We have recently launched and are at an early stage. The product is live, with an initial focus on Ahmedabad. We are validating the search experience, improving listing quality, and learning which features users find most useful. We are not yet presenting validated growth or revenue metrics.
Who is our target customer?
People looking for an apartment to rent or buy, and people looking for rooms or compatible flatmates. Our initial focus is rental and flatmate discovery in Ahmedabad, with broader property search and additional cities on the roadmap.
How big is the market?
Our founder’s initial market-size estimate is 10 billion. The currency, geographic scope, market definition, and supporting research still need to be established. This is an early estimate, not a validated market-sizing claim.
Who are our competitors?
Alternatives include OLX, 99acres, other real estate platforms, local brokers, and housing groups on social media. Users also solve this problem by searching across several communities and comparing posts manually.
How are we different?
Our focus is a housing search experience built around plain-language requirements, combining community-sourced listings with user-submitted posts and filters for flats and flatmates. We want people to describe what they need and narrow their search without having to translate every preference into a separate form field.
Our longer-term ambition is to bring this experience to more cities and countries. We are starting locally and validating the approach before expanding.
How do we plan to make money?
Planned revenue streams include paid featured listings, priority placement in relevant searches, and advertising integrations. Sponsored listings will be clearly labelled. These features are on the roadmap and are not presented as existing revenue.
